Car Boot Sale
Sunday, March 23, 2008Here on Review London we like to review everything that we happen to experience whilst in London; it can be anything from a get together at a strange place or a hidden treasure in London. That makes it so great; it is not just what the average tourist would be searching for when they look up London.

Today's topic is all about a car boot sale. You may have read about it or heard about it but do you really know what it actually is? Well, in the first place, it is a great way to clear your house with unwanted items and to make a few pounds extra on the side. Who knows, you might need to save for a holiday or clear out a house as you are moving into a smaller flat, whatever the reason might be, a car boot sale is always a good idea.

Each borough in London has a car boot sale at least once a month if the weather permits it. It is normally organised around an open field or parking lot that is not in use for the day. Car boot sales are normally done on a Sunday and can start from as early as 7am. It is normally advisable to take a car or a van to the venue with your goods as that acts as your “stall”. Some people take tables and chairs with to make their stalls more appealing but it is up to you how you sell your goods. The people wishing to sell items on the day would normally pay a small fee to the event organisers, normally around £10 - £15 for the whole day, everything after that is your own profit, so you can haggle all you want.

If the weather is great, you will normally get a lot of people showing up and browsing through the goods. A lot of people make good money selling unwanted items, who knows you might even pick up a good bargain at a car boot sale. Keep your eyes peeled for the local newspaper or even on the council’s website for further information on the next car boot sale in your area.
