London South Bank

The London South Bank is one of the most exciting places to visit when in London as you do not have to spend a pound to have a great day out by the Thames River. The closest station is Waterloo Station which is accessible from all railway links, underground networks and even a bus stand around the corner. Millions of tourists flock to the South Bank each year as it is home to the London Eye, London Aquarium, City Hall and a few other well known landmarks.

There is a big park in front of the London Eye where you can sit and relax on your own with a picnic or make a day out with the family. You will always find tonnes of entertainers along the path of the Thames River, mostly drama students making an extra pound on the weekend. To the left of the London Eye, keep walking and you will hit the South Bank Market, a huge book market on the weekends you can browse through at your own pace. There is something relaxing and entertaining about the London South Bank.

You will notice that there is a area by the Royal Festival Area that is covered in graffiti, that is now been a skateboard area for many years where teenagers and young adults hang out and skate on their skateboards. It brings quite a nice atmosphere to the South Bank.

The London South Bank even has a couple of summer parties on their so called beach on the Thames River. Lots of people turn out for this as it is something different to see and experience. If you are itching for something to do, why not try booking a river cruise in a booth next to the London Eye, they are about £6 for a single ticket, which is not too bad all the way down to the London Bridge where you can experience a few more things we’ll discuss in another topic.

Along the entire stretch of the South Bank you will find interesting things to see and to do, some are cheap, others are not. Food and drinks are scattered all over the place but may be a bit pricey on weekends. Take cash with you as there are a few stalls that do not accept debit or credit cards which will make it a shame as there are no close cash machines around.

The London South Bank also accommodates a lot of festivals during the year, keep checking their website to see when the next activity is planned for. They are mostly free which will save you a couple of pounds you can spend on another activity. While you are at the South Bank, visit the Royal Festival Hall, they have a nice café you can sit and relax in and some lunch times they have free concerts for everyone. Keep you eyes peeled as there is always something interesting happening in the South Bank area.
