Dean City Farm
Saturday, February 23, 2008London is not all about famous landmarks, theatre and cobble stone streets. There are a lot more hidden away that the average traveller / tourists does not know about. You would be amazed to how little the Londoners themselves know about these treasures right on their doorsteps. Today's hidden treasure is called Dean City Farm. There are a few of these city farms in London.

The Dean City Farm is a great idea for Londoners and their children to get up close to what it would be like to live on a farm and to interact with the animals without leaving the M25. Dean City Farm is located in South West London, near Merton and is generally open Tuesday through to Sunday.

You are welcome to visit the farm any time during those hours and browse around for a couple of hours. There is no entrance charge but they would not say no to any sort of donations. A lot of children volunteer to help out with the grooming, cleaning and feeding of the various animals they have at Dean City Farm.

The Dean City Farm also offers riding lessons on horses and ponies but you could also watch the lesson if you won't be in London long enough. Dean City Farm relies on a lot of volunteers and contributions to keep the programme running and to make it free to the public. It is really a hidden gem not to be missed in London. It feels like you are escaping the rush of the city.

Make your way down to Dean City Farm for a fun cheap day out in London. Take a few sandwiches with you and make a day of it. There is so much to see and to do that you can really space out everything in one day and get back to Mother Nature.
