London Science Museum
Tuesday, February 26, 2008The Science Museum in London was founded in 1857 and was initially part of the South Kensington Museum. You would not believe it but the Science Museum holds a collection of over 300 000 items and available for anyone to see at no charge. They even have a dedicated library, stored over five floors to explore.

The Science Museum looks better and fresher now that they have completed the major refurbishment works in 2005. There is an exciting new feel to the Science Museum when you walk through those doors. It is not like you are walking into another boring museum and your mind is able to explore the history of science at the same time.

If you are looking for a fun filled, mind challenging day out in London then it is highly recommended that you spend at least half a day in the Science Museum. Entry to this fascinating museum is free of charge but donations are welcome. You can bring in your own packed lunch or snacks or you could enjoy a meal or cake in their café on the ground floor. There is a gift shop on the ground floor for those enthusiasts to take an experiment home with them.

There is so much to see on all of the five floors, wide open spaces on each floor allows everyone browsing around to take in as much of the display / experiments as possible without getting in each others way. There is a IMAX on the ground floor way at the back for those eager to see a great documentary in 3D, definitely recommended. Nothing beats a good 3D documentary where everything comes to live right in front of you.

There is really something for everyone at the Science Museum. You can get to the Science Museum quite easily by taking the Underground Tube Network to South Kensington or take one of the many busses that stops right in front of the Science Museum.
