Portobello Road is a famous road in Notting Hill in the Kensington & Chelsea borough of London. This specific road attracts thousands of tourist and locals each month. Portobello Road transforms itself on the weekends and becomes the Portobello Road Market, where you can shop for all sorts of antiques and second hand clothing. There are a lot more items you can purchase in Portobello Road but antiques remains one of the main attractions to this market.
Portobello Road Market in located in Zone 2, which makes it cheaper to travel to since you are avoid using Zone 1. Portobello Road Market is quite accessible by using the Hammersmith & City Underground line (pink line) or you can catch a bus straight to the market. The market is best suited for the summer months where you can enjoy good food and music while browsing through the stalls.
The Portobello Road Market is completely different to the other markets in London. They all do have their own unique feel to them. A word of advice, make it a whole day event as the road can be quite long and if you’re browsing it can seem endless. Always shop around before you decide to purchase an antique at the market, you'll never know if the stall a bit further down the road has got a better deal.
